Seven out of every ten deaths in the United States today are caused by chronic disease conditions that can either be prevented or minimized. These diseases include depression, cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. Identifying processes that promote chronic disease, which can in turn be modified to reduce disease burden and improve human health, should therefore be of paramount public concern.
The research we do aims to advance our understanding of how stress promotes chronic diseases, but many challenges exist. Because of recent reductions in federal funding for scientific research, for example, several of our high-priority projects were either delayed or canceled.
With your support, we can prevent much-needed projects from being halted. If you find the research we do important, please make a donation today. Your generous gift is entirely tax-deductible and will go directly toward supporting scientific projects in the Lab. Thank you in advance for your support and for helping us enhance human health worldwide.
